'Pink' in Combat / Recycling tracks

We've had quite a few Pink tracks in recent BC history, and they've all been quite good. BC28 lower warm up - Trouble, and the two track 6s - BC31's U & Ur Hand and BC32's Leave Me Alone (one of my personal favs).

I'm heading down to Auckland later this month for the filming, can't believe it's only 2 weeks away... and soundbites are out that Pink is going to be in BC39.

Everything's great, but the sad thing is that it's gonna be in BP69 as well. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this to anyone before, but I hate tracks being recycled for other programs. I think when tracks are recycled they sort of lose their orginality and uniqueness for that track and choreography. Even if I like that song very very much, I would also discount it slightly.

Maybe that's the reason why I didn't like We Will Survive. Oops, did I just reveal one of only two tracks I don't like in BC37? Been used in BP before years ago and I still can't dissociate it from BP. The other one, the conditioning track 'Church' is being used in exactly the same release cycle in Bodyjam! It just feels funny doing it.

The exception of course is if the cooldown tracks are being used for Bodybalance, which is a totally different feel.

The worst thing I discovered is that Les Mills doesn't get it any cheaper for using the same song in 2 programs, so they still have to pay the licence fees separately. If that's the case, why re-use the song?

Crabs, Crabs and Crabs

Just a very quick update before I go watch England vs Kazakhstan.

It's been a really satisfying week thus far, with all the hardship at work culminating in not one but two crab dinners. I love eating crabs and hanging out with crabs so Fri and Sat has been lovely.

First up - Fri nite. One of my colleagues suddenly had a wacky idea, and soon 15 of us gathered and had a nice dinner at this 'zi char' place opp Punggol Park. The crabs were fantastic. My boss joked that the response is even better than offsite trip. After the dinner, we adjourned for a few drinks, and I left feeling slightly high.

Sat - My 2 classes as usual, not sure if it was the pre-weekend drinks, or the fact that I've officially become a weekend warrior, I was spent by the time I finished conducting both my classes, and had no more energy for Bodyjam.

Came home, went for my weekly fix of foot massage, before rushing my ass down to TPY for our Crabby dinner, which was arranged so damn long ago. We were supposed to have it last Sat, but last min a few of us came down with bad throats (myself included) so we postponed it.

7 of us LM junkies - myself, Lynn, Chris Boy, Vivi, Wei Li, Jean and Eric - had a massive dose of crustaceans before an ice-cream overload at Swensens.

I nearly forgot I had a class to conduct on Sun (tmr), and it was only when WL mentioned that tmr have to 'work' then I remembered.

It is still hard for me to classify conducting classes as work. I love doing it, so why should it be called 'work'? Can I call it a passion, a hobby or an interest?

The enthusiasm still burns within, only that I don't have that much time to devote. At this juncture in my life, perhaps it is better for me to pursue what all 'crabs' crave - security.

What Hurts The Most

Loving this song lots! Cascada's cover is really catchy.

*********************************************

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house, that don't bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I'm not afraid to cry
Every once in a while even though goin on with you gone still upsets me
There are days
Every now and again I pretend I'm OK but that's not what gets me

[Chorus:]
What hurts the most, was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
Never knowing, what could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

It's hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I'm doing it
It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I'm alone
Still harder gettin up, gettin dressed, living with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade, give away all the words that I saved in my heart that I left unspoken

What hurts the most, was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
Never knowing, what could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

I'm not afraid to cry
Every once in a while even though goin on with you gone still upsets me
There are days
Every now and again I pretend I'm OK but that's not what gets me

BODYBALANCE 43

The Tai Chi Track has only two moves, allowing us to sink deeply into our breathing, and immerse ourselves in the simplicity of Coldplay's Lost.

Transiting through the playfulness of the Sun Salutations to Standing Strength, the focus shifts to power, culminating in the challenging Bent Knee Floating Half Moon Pose accompanied by the uplifting Mary J Blighe song, Come to Me.

Prepare for drama. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' Soft Rock hit, Your Guardian Angel soars through the Balance Track. This unites with the Angel Sequence to challenge and uplift us.

Invite members to extend into the intense Quad/Abductor Stretch, increasing hip mobility and potentially improving knee alignment, before releasing into a delicious, extended Happy Baby Pose, which does magic for the hips.

Plenty of options are needed in the wickedly tough Core Tracks, overflowing with kooky innovations like Commando Crawls and Plank Pose Pullbacks. Warning – these moves will transform your body!

Sheryl Crow's Always On Your Side is back by popular demand, this time in a duet with Sting, to gently twist us free and begin the glorious descent into Forward Folds and Meditation.

***************************************************

When I first heard BP66's cooldown - Always On Your Side, by Sheryl Crow (duet with Sting), I thought that this would be great for a BB track and it would appear in BB one day.

Little did I know that Sheryl Crow's solo version already appeared in BB33! And the worst thing is the DVD/CD is sitting at home untouched.

I'm so glad it's back for BB43. Great track!

BODYCOMBAT 38

Gosh... even before we finish our new launch BC37 (I haven't even posted my reviews yet), BC38 is on its way!

This time round, it's going to be even more exciting, as a few of us instructors are going all the way to Bangkok quarterly workshop to sample BC38.

***************************************************

Get ready for Kick KATAs, leg conditioning and shoulder-smashing Punch combos because BODYCOMBAT™ 38 – the ultimate heavyweight Boxing release – is gonna take no prisoners!

There's no gentle easing into this class – Track 2 features three separate combos but The Hives' Try It Again will motivate you to "Get up, get down and try it again"!

The ultimate Kick KATA in Track 4 is a truly butt-blasting challenge – you'll chisel and shape your butt with the Back Kick and those deep Lunges in between really seal the deal!

Track 5, Avril Lavigne's The Best Damn Thing, sees the start of those new shoulder-smashing combos. Don't be fooled by the upbeat Pop music – this track is relentless!

You don't get a chance to catch your breath before powering into Track 6 – another butt and leg-toning track – with the Lunge & Esquiva Combo.

Kick-boxing and Capoeira have a strong presence in this track for which The Prodigy provide the motivating sounds required.

Cascada asks "What hurts the most?" in Track 8 and it's safe to say BODYCOMBAT™ hurts the most! Just when you think this track is over – pow, you've got another set to go.

Avril Lavigne in BC again! HOT! And Cascada's What Hurts The Most. I love this song!

A Tale of 3 Scorpios

I read Scorpios like a book. I know how they function, I know exactly how they think and I know what makes them tick and what annoys them. I've been surrounded by Scorpio friends throughout my life. It's like a love-hate relationship. Sometimes what they do annoys me, but yet I enjoy the company of Scorpios the most. I can deal with their 'psycho' behaviour and they can handle the emo crabs. But one common thing about Scorpios is that they like to have their way. Every Scorpio I've met has been like that.

I had dinner with Mr S this evening. It was our first proper catch up dinner since my last trip, and also the first since I started work on this job proper. It was like NS days once again, I was telling him about my current job, what I liked and what I hated.

I like the work environment. I like my boss and my colleagues. I like the money. I like my seat. I like the nature of it. I like the fact that time passes really fast in a day and I have no spare time on my hands. Really?

I hate having no time. I don't like the fact that I'm losing my personal time. No time for gym activities, dinner with my ex-colleagues and my friends. I don't like working till 9:30pm everyday. I don't like accumulating bad karma points at work everyday. But that's life.

That aside, we had dinner at Kuriya. The food was amazing. We ordered a full course set dinner, and a fresh fish (half grilled and half for sashimi). The bill of course was amazing but everything was worth it. I don't mind paying for good food.

So during the dinner, I had a few SMSes with Ms S. Ms S is my colleague from another team, but from my training batch. We hit it off during training and have remained in close contact till now.

Ms S was feeling depressed at work, and I can totally understand how she was feeling. It made me remember our training days when we used to sneak off for coffees and blah blah blah... She would relate to me her evil ways and plans for revenge for those who have crossed her, and I would listen in amusement, believing every word she says, because, trust me, you would never ever want to offend a Scorpio.

Then I came home, I chatted to Ms Y (also a Scorpio) online. Ms Y is my ex-colleague and also never fails to amuse me with her Scorpio-like behaviour. It's true. Scorpios make me laugh.

Ms Y was telling me how angry she was and I probed further. Apparently, she screamed at her mother for buying saline for her when she wanted the multi-purpose solution to clean her contacts. And she's been using saline for two days blah blah blah... the story could go on, but that wasn't my point.

I gave Ms Y a dressing down. I asked her to put herself in the shoes of her mother and imagine how her mother felt. It must have been emotionally draining.

When the mother helped her buy the saline, she was probably feeling very happy that she bought something for her daughter. No parent in the world would want to buy something wrong for their kid intentionally.

Secondly, when her mother woke up from her sleep to rush to CHEERS to get it for her, and returned empty-handed because they don't stock it, she must have felt panic.

I felt like I could identify with Y's mother at that time. The feeling of panic and fear. Emotionally drained. I've been through all that before.

After hearing me out, Y felt really remorseful and asked me what she could do. I told her, for one, she could drop her mother a 'sorry' SMS so that when her mum wakes up, she can see it. Or she could eat some of the food her mum cooked for her but left in the fridge cos she had her dinner outside already.

It reminded me of an incident a few weeks back, when I left my laptop overnight to download the latest BC release, and my mum shut it for me. Needless to say, I lashed out the very next morning when I woke up, only to regret it for the entire day. It (me lashing out, and not the failed download) made me so ineffectual at work that I ended the day early and reached home at 7pm. Throughout the day, I was feeling the guilt of my mum for shutting my laptop, all because she had good intentions and thought I forgot to switch it off. I know she was feeling it.

That incident really made me wake up. Because after all this while, my mum is still the most important Scorpio in my life.
